Supporting young people

who are major carers for their parents and siblings

The Kids Who Care Foundation Young Carers Project is a state wide program that consists of a range of support options and recreational opportunities for the primary and secondary Young Care

Young Care
Young Carer Camps
Young Carer Camps held in the school holidays are delivered for a week and are based on a peer support and recreation model whereby young carer’s experiences of loneliness are diminished due to the opportunities that present to make new friends, create great memories & laughter and participate in fun filled activities.

The camps provide young carers aged between 8 years old and 18 years old with a much deserved break that focuses on, “chilling out, having fun and making friends”.

Camps can assist in reducing feelings of isolation as it provides an opportunity for increased understanding from each other as young carers may share similar experiences.

By hanging out a camp for a week we see really positive change happen in the lives of these young people. As they get involved in a range of activities, they have a chance to refresh themselves, talk with leaders and other carers about their feelings, look at new ways of dealing with challenges and of course have fun!!

Camp activities include surfing, horse riding, giant swing, ropes courses, art n craft, swimming, kayaking, bike riding, drama and lots lots more.
