Supporting young people

who are major carers for their parents and siblings

The Kids Who Care Foundation Young Carers Project is a state wide program that consists of a range of support options and recreational opportunities for the primary and secondary Young Care

Young Care
Weekend Retreats
Weekend Retreats are a new edition to our services and are the family component of our program.

Our retreats are held a number of times during the year on a weekend and are an opportunity for young carers to spend some time away with their family in a positive and relaxing environment.

Parent and Sibling Weekends for young carers assisting in the care of a sibling to come away and have some quality time with their parent/s without the presence of their brother or sister.

Family Weekends for young carers and their families including the care recipient, to spend some time together as a family away from the home environment and day to day routine.

Parent and Young Carer Weekends for young people who are the major or sole carer for their parent. The weekend is an opportunity to have a break from home and the caring role and participate in some activities that are normally out of reach.

All of our weekend retreats also provide the opportunity for all who attend to make new friendships and networks with other families in similar situations to their own.
