The Kids Who Care Foundation Young Carers Project is a state wide program that consists of a range of support options and recreational opportunities for the primary and secondary Young Care

Young Care
The Young Carers Program consists of a range of support options and recreational services for young carers across Victoria, with the major component of the program being respite camps and weekends, conducted in school holiday periods.
 
Young Carer Camps
Young Carer Camps held in the school holidays are delivered for a week and are based on a peer support and recreation model whereby young carer’s experiences of loneliness are diminished due to the opportunities that present to make new friends, create great memories & laughter and participate in fun filled activities.


The camps provide young carers aged between 8 years old and 18 years old with a much deserved break that focuses on, “chilling out, having fun and making friends”.

Weekend Retreats
Weekend Retreats are a new edition to our services and are the family component of our program.

Our retreats are held a number of times during the year on a weekend and are an opportunity for young carers to spend some time away with their family in a positive and relaxing environment.

Newletters

The Kids Who Care Foundation publishes four newsletters a year in February, May, August and November. The newsletters are filled with a variety of information about young carer issues, upcoming events and information and news from other young carer services around the state.

Activity days
During the year the Kids Who Care Foundation also provides a variety of activity days for young carers and their families.

Usually during the school holidays or on a weekend, the activity days are a chance for young carers and families to catch up with friends made at previous events and have a fun filled day out.
